Ambassador joined the field trip to the Northeast of Brazil organized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Livestock and Food Supply


During 11-14 November 2014, Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil and his secretary as well as representatives from various embassies joined the field trip to the Northeast of Brazil (the city of Petrolina, State of Pernambuco, Casa Nova, State of Bahia and Icapui, State of Ceara). The field trip was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) with the aims to raise awareness and understanding of the agricultural production and technology of Brazil.

     
On November 11, 2014, Mr. Lino Colsera, Deputy Secretary of Agri-bisiness International Relations of Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply received the delegation and presented the overview of Brazil’s potential Agribusiness. Later on, the Ambassador and delegation headed to Santa Felicidade vineyards for the excursion to learn more about grape production for domestic consumption and exportation in Casa Nova, the State of Bahia.


From 12-13 November 2014, the delegation visited various agricultural sites, namely (1) the Miolo Winery  (2) the acres of mango and banana of AgroBras and (3) the Melon farm of Agricola Famosa. The delegation learned more about the process of wine production, including the packaging and logistics for the domestic and international markets. For fruits produces, the delegation also learned about the process of yielding, selection, storage, packaging and logistical movement to the Brazilian local market and the exported countries such as the US, EU and Japan.  
Brazilian agriculture has been constantly growing and improving its techniques and productivity over the past 10 years. Increasing productivity, management efficiency, research, innovation and technological development such as the irrigation and the water diversion from the river to the dried areas, have revolutionized the country’s agribusiness sector.  


The Ambassador took this opportunity to exchange views with the agricultural businessmen in related sectors for future collaboration between Thailand and Brazil.
